Enough with the leaves now!

I think this blog is in desperate need for some stitching, don't you? This is a piece I've made for the monthly challenge at the swedish fiberart blog Indigo. The theme for May was Rococo.

This is what wikipedia has to say about Rococo. The Rococo style of art emerged in France in the early 18th century as a continuation of the Baroque style. In contrast to the heavier themes and darker colors of the Baroque, the Rococo style was characterized by an opulence, grace, playfulness, and lightness. Rococo motifs focused on the carefree aristocratic life and on lighthearted romance rather than heroic battles or religious figures; they also revolve heavily around nature and exterior settings.

I picked the blue and white colours because the china that was imported, from China, in the 18th century was white and blue. The flowers of course, for nature. The geometric shape I took from a Rococo garden In Cotswold called Painswick Rococo Garden. The outlines of the Kitchen Garden looks a little bit like this.

The background is wool that I needlefelted by hand. Then I handstitched with different threads in cotton, linen, rayon and silk. Size: 25x25 cm
