Yesterday I went to a workshop with Petter Hellsing. He is a swedish fiber artist. Right now he's showing his work at the Pricked: Extreme Embroidery exhibition at the Museum of Arts & Design in New York.
The workshop was about recycling old traditional embroideries and turning them into contemporary pieces. Petter brought a huge pile of handstitched tablecloth that he'd bought at garagesales and thrift shops. We all got to pick a piece and then we added our own stitching to it. The piece I chose was a tiny white tablecloth with a lace border. The inspiration for the birds came from one of Petters pieces that had pictures of animals on it.
I really enjoyed the workshop and had a great time!

I love this piece of work Annica. Beautiful.
Annica this piece is wonderful, very appealing. Sounds like a really good workshop and what a generous tutor to let you have some pieces to work on.
