Shopping around

Today was a shopping day! Bought some wool and silk fibers.

I also went from one place to another looking at embellishers. Babylock, Janome, Husqvarna, Pfaff and Bernina... So far my favourite is Husqvarna. I'm not sure if it's because Husqvarna had the nicest salesperson or if that actually is the best product. Pricewise it's somewhere in the middle.

If you'd like to tell me which one your using and give me some pro's and con's I'd be very greatful.

I've got a babylock one and I think the biggest pro to it is that I can change the needles one at a time as they break. I think most of the machines have the needles as a cartridge so that when one breaks you have to replace them all. The babylock also has 7 needles where as most of the others have 5.

My Merrylock has 5 needles, and you can change the needles one at a time as they break. But they are breaking so often and they are very exspensive. I regret not having bought the babylock.

I too have a Babylock "7 needle", and I have only broken 1 needle in the 2 years I have owned it. The advantage is IMHO that you can adjust the height of the foot to suit the depth of the fabrics you are putting underneath. Saves breaking too many needles. I'm sure you will buy the one you like the best, regardless of the sales person. Good luck.
