Challenge - Fish

I belong to a local group of the Swedish Embroiderers Guild. We meet about once a month and for every time we try to come up with different challenges. We didn't jave a meeting in July because most of us were on holiday but now everyone is back again. This is the August challenge. To make a postcard with a fish on it.



I stamped that fabric with bubblewrap and a homemade stamp and the I stitched it by hand.

Here are four more Postcards I've made for the show next weekend.

I'm having a busy weekend. There are several things that needs to be organized for the show and I have two articles to read for my University course. It's very interesting but it does take an awful lot of time, hence the lack of blogging and stitching.

Postcards

I promised to show some stitching in my next post and here it is. Three more postcards for the show. I've made 16 postcards all together. I punched wool and scraps of fabric on to cotton velvet and stitched by hand.

September...

Outside my window... Waiting for more wind, maybe a storm. Right now it's peaceful, restful. I love the autumn. It's such a good time for thinking, dreaming and stitching.

Almost done now!

Pack, carry (=backpain), clean, drive, carry (third floor, no lift), saying words I don't want to write here... unpack, clean... go to IKEA, carry (trust me you don't want to know what I said...) drive, carry some more (the stairs remember), unpack, put together bookcases, clean... Almost done now! This is what my new workroom/artroom/sewingroom looks like so far.












My cold is gone and I have had time to do some stitching. The Swedish Embroiderers Guild is going to show stitched postcards at the equivalent to The Knitting and Stiching show that is taking place here in Stockholm in November. I have made 14 postcards and no 15 is on it's way. Here are three of them.

Susan will be here in three hours. I'm so excited about meeting her and Sara. My bags are packed. I've made sure I got all I need. Wine, chocolate and artsupplies...


Thanks to everyone how left a comment on my previous posts. I appreciate all your kind words and birthday wishes. Two of my blogfriends turned 40 at about the same time as I did. I made them a birthday postcard each. For Julia and Paula!

A lot of singing going on...

Not a lot of stitching to report but a lot of singing. I belong to a choire and last Saturday we had a concert. 1 300 people came to listen. All the money when to children in need. Yesterday we performed at another charity. Here's a pic of the wonderful view we had from the stage.


This event was in benefits for Clowns Without Borders. In my next life I'd like to be a clown.

Even though I haven't been stitching a lot lately I've managed do a few swaps.

The first ATC is from Ingrid, one of my friends here in Stockholm. Isn't it lovely! The lady behind the curtain is Karin Boye a famous swedish poet. Ingrid hasn't got a blog yet but I hope she will start blogging soon so you'll get to see some more of her beautiful work. Thank you Ingrid!

The second ATC is from Anne in France. She doesn't have a blog either. Anne makes gorgoeus ATCs in cross stitch. Thank you Anne!

Cyber Fyber Postcard

I was going to make a postcard for The Cyber Fyber Exhibition. I ended up making four of them. Now I can't decide which postcard to send to Susan.

My solution to this problem, of course, is to let you vote for which postcard I should send. Leave a comment on this post before midnight on Wednesday this week and tell me which PC you think I should send. I'll draw a winner who will get... Yes, your right, a postcard!

Stuff I've made...

Making art and moving doesn't go together very well. I've tried to have a few small things around to work on the past month but I always ended up needing something I already packed. Then I had to go through all the boxes with artstuff to find it, and then repack them again. I think I probably did that 20 times or so...

Anyway, this is what I managed to do. Two bookmarks for the October swap at Unlimited Textiles. One is for Sue and the other one for Sandy.

Three postcards for three lovely ladies Arlee, Lynda and Neki. Neki has another kanoko shibori tutorial up on her blog. Don't miss it!

Two more things!

I'm swaping Christmas cards with Beate. I know Christmas is two months away but if anyone else would like to trade with me please let me know within the next week or so.

If you'd like to participate in the PIF exchange you should have a look at Natalyas blog. She makes beautiful things! I'd love to have something made by her!

Another great blogger I dicovered through the PIF exchange is Ruth and her gorgeous felting. Oops! That's three things! I better stop!

What I've been up to lately

...apart from packing my stuff.

I just finished a PC and a quiltie for a swap at the Unlimited Textiles group.



This month the challenge was to use colour combinations. I made a PC for Jan in warm colours and a quiltie in cold colours for Claire.


I've also made a PC for Denise.

All three of them are made the same way. Acrylic paint on scrim that's needlefelted to wool and stitched by hand.

And the Winner is...
